- Domain WHOIS Update
When updating the WHOIS information for a domain, a validation email will be sent to the domain registrant. If the WHOIS change is not validated within 15 days, the domain will be suspended, and you will receive a case notification from HostGator, similar to domain registrations and transfers. Please visit the following article for more information on where to view or update your domain's WHOIS information within your Customer Portal.
- Updating WHOIS Information
Once this occurs, you will no longer be able to validate the WHOIS change with the code from the validation email; instead, you will need to respond to the ticket notification. If you attempt to validate the domain order with the validation code after the 15-day time frame, you will receive a warning message instructing you to contact HostGator, as we are required to manually verify all WHOIS updates that were not validated in the 15-day time frame. Please note that a 60-day transfer lock or Change of Registrar (COR) lock, enforced by ICANN, will be applied to your domain if the email address, name, or organization name is changed. This will prevent the domain from being hijacked and other potential hazards, such as being transferred away to another registrar. HostGator can't bypass or expedite this lock, nor can it be disabled in the Customer Portal. For more information, please visit the The Different Types of Domain Locks Explained article.
