Introduction to Plesk Administration
Plesk is a web server control panel, and is developed and maintained by Parallels. Its primary purpose is to manage servers that provide web hosting services. Managed services include:
- HTTP / HTTPS (Apache)
- SMTP (qmail or Postfix)
- POP3 / IMAP (Courier)
- DNS (BIND / named)
- SQL (MySQL and/or PostgreSQL)
- Webmail (Horde and/or Atmail)
- SpamAssassin
- Tomcat
In this tutorial, we will cover all of the necessary steps to set up a new server to host a single secured WordPress site with email. We will also discuss several administrative tasks, such as setting account limits and taking backups. This tutorial does not cover reselling or Customer and Business Manager, nor does it discuss Plesk administration in any depth beyond what is needed to set up websites.
